Artist Song Dong presented his conceptual participatory installation Reform in the Year of the Horse as part of the launch of the first printed issue of Wallpaper Art WA!*, initiated by Wallpaper China. The work was realized on site in the Exchange Circle sector at Art Basel Hong Kong 2026.

I wore "Qi Baishi-style" attire and used a brush dipped in milk to write the current time on this blank page.
The concept of "blank-leaving" (or "negative space") is an important idea in traditional Chinese painting. I inject this concept into contemporary art.
To leave blank or not to leave blank—this is not only a cultural question, but also a matter of leaving blank while not exactly leaving blank. The "existence" and "temporary existence" of this “blankness” both embody the immense power of “possibility”.
