Yin Xiuzhen's first major UK retrospective, "Heart to Heart," is currently on display at the Hayward Gallery in London. This exhibition brings together important works created by the artist over the past thirty years using everyday objects, industrial materials, and worn clothing, as well as newly commissioned works created for Hayward. The exhibition title, "Heart to Heart," originates from a new, large-scale, immersive, heart-shaped installation created specifically for this exhibition. Another commissioned work in the exhibition comes from the artist's "Portable City" series. The creation of the new "Portable City: London" began with a donation box of worn clothing placed in the staff office of the Southbank Centre; these donated garments were then sent to Yin Xiuzhen's Beijing studio for creation. "Heart to Heart" comprehensively presents Yin Xiuzhen's cross-media art creation over the past thirty years, encompassing her signature large-scale installations as well as sculptures, photography, video, and wall works, and also features a concentrated exhibition of valuable archival materials from her early performance art.
