Works by Chang Yuchen are currently presented in Same Same but Different, a curated exhibition within Room for Error, the inaugural curatorial residency exhibition project of The Here and There Collective.

The exhibition attempts to analyze the tension between repetition and failure, constancy and rupture. Drawing inspiration from art history, Singlish, as well as the fragility of machines, bodies, and language, the artists investigate how each attempt at repetition simultaneously gives rise to the possibility of deviation.

When the repetitive mechanisms that permeate everyday life malfunction or become destabilized, what remains? When the space between intention and realization fractures, what happens? Using video, kinetic sculpture, and works on paper as their mediums, the artists transform repetition into material, medium, movement, and method. These works examine issues of (re)memory, authenticity, and the production and transformation of value, guiding us to reflect on how repetition constructs daily life, and how it continually fails through cycle after cycle.
