Chang Yuchen’s Works are now Participating in He Museum’s Group Exhibition “The Roots Know More”

2025. 10. 01-2026. 02. 28

Works by Chang Yuchen are currently presented in Roots Are Clearer Than a Compass, an exhibition at He Art Museum.

The exhibition runs through and continues the museum’s long-standing narrative of “dialogue.” Taking Guangdong as its point of departure and traveling across various regions of the Global South, it seeks to present a panorama of modern and contemporary art from a non-Western perspective, while also serving as a phased annotation of He Art Museum’s five years of accumulation and practice. Using roots as a metaphor, the exhibition unfolds layer by layer from top to bottom within the museum space. Roots, as the support of life, also transcend biological meaning to become a language reflecting the spirit of the times, symbolizing forces of growth, proliferation, and symbiosis. The artists gathered from around the world—whether or not they originate from regions defined geographically or conceptually as the “Global South”—each define themselves in their own ways, free from externally imposed boundaries, and establish their connections with the world through paint, objects, or the body.
