Works by Wang Luyan, Liang Shuo, and Liu Jianhua are currently presented in a sculpture group exhibition at Shanshang Art Center.
Titled A Brief History of Sculpture, the exhibition revolves around the theme of “the sediments of time.” The works range from the Lingjing Bird, a small bone carving unearthed in archaeological excavations dating back 13,500 years, to traditional single sculptures, bronze cast works, porcelain pieces, 3D printing, simulated silicone, programming technologies, digital art, bodily performance, clay toys, modern shop signs, and commissioned sculptural installations. Made from natural and artificial materials or their combinations, these works also embody the long-term development and evolution of technological tools within human society. The exhibition enables sculptures from different periods to enter into dialogue, allowing contemporary artistic creation to resonate with discoveries from ancient times.
