By discovering and sorting through the belongings of her maternal grandfather—a traditional theater actor—Ma Qiusha revisits his life and gradually retrieves an image of a relative far more unfamiliar than she had ever imagined. Her solo project "A Young Man," currently on view at Caijin Space, revolves around this revisit to the trajectories of an era and a life. Amid the intertwining of documentation and imagination (whether human or AI-generated), the distance between the two "creators" constantly shifts—overlapping and separating—continuing the artist's exploration of history and the individual, memory and imagination, intimacy and estrangement.
