Chang Yuchen’s work Coral Dictionary (A Lecture) will be presented at Symposium 2025: Soul Song of a New Organisation at the Tanoto Art Foundation on January 14 at 5:00 PM (Singapore time).
In this performance, Chang revisits her first encounters with Dinawan Island in Malaysia, corals (both living and fossilized), and Kamus Sari, a trilingual Malay–Mandarin–English dictionary. Through notes, drawings, books, and fragments of coral, the artist demonstrates how the act of translation weaves together nature and sedimented social realities, and how this process reconnects her—linguistically, politically, and spiritually.
