For the Galleries sector of Art Basel Hong Kong, Beijing Commune (Booth 1B11) present a dynamic selection of recent works by artists spanning multiple generations, including Chang Yuchen, Feng Shan, Heidi Lau, Hong Hao, Liang Shuo, Liang Yuanwei, Ma Qiusha, Mao Yan, Shang Yixin, Shi Jiayun, Song Dong, Su Yu-Xin, Wang Guangle, Wang Luyan, Xie Molin, Yan Bing, Yang Xinguang, Yin Xiuzhen, Zhang Xiaogang, Zhi Wei, Zhou Yilun and more. In additional the group presentation, the gallery will present a solo project by Ma Qiusha in this year’s Kabinett sector, unveiling her most recent body of work.

In Pan · Theon, Ma Qiusha engages the complex dialogue between idea and form, creation and selfhood, through two recent series, both embracing the semblance of a body. The video Pantheon presents rotating porcelain, lustrous figurines of Chinese Model Opera's paragons, once revered by her mother's generation. Conversely, in Goddess, under the ghostly veneer floating in the cyanotype blue lies her young daughter's hand-shaped Greek deities. Through these intimate yet distant confidantes, the works frame a stunning symmetry between sanctification and incarnation, illuminating the fragile threshold upon which personal and mythical worlds are built.
