Yin Xiuzhen's Solo Exhibition Opened at Anna Schwartz Gallery Sydney

Yin Xiuzhen’s solo exhibition opened at Anna Schwartz Gallery Sydney on Feb. 14. In addition to some of her best known works, such as Weapon which was on show in 52nd Venice Biennale and the “suitcases” series, Yin shows quite a few latest pieces at ASG, such as The Unbearable Warmth and Deep Breath, etc. Many important figures of Australian art scene, such as Edmund Capon, director and chief curator of New South Wale Museum, David Elliott, director of next Sydney Biennale, and Rachel Kent, senior curator of Museum of Contemporary Art and contributor of Art & Australia, etc, presented Yin’s opening reception that day. Edmund Capon was also the speaker for the opening. This exhibition is the new year’s start for ASG Sydney in 2009 and will last until March 28th.

Anna Schwartz Gallery is the biggest gallery in Australia. Established first in Melbourne in 1982, ASG represents a broad diversity of media and forms within the realm of serious contemporary art practice. Establishing itself at the forefront of Australian contemporary art, the gallery has historically worked with the most prolific Australian artists, to establish itself as one of Australia’s leading galleries. In June 2008, ASG launched its Sydney space, Anna Schwartz Gallery Sydney. The inaugural exhibition was a solo project by Australian artist Mike Parr - photographs documenting over thirty years of performance projects. The second project, NEON, was an international group exhibition, including artists such as Joseph Kosuth, Tracey Emin, Pierre Huyghe, alongside other international and Australian artists across generations.
